Sibling Enrollment
During the re-enrollment period, Collegium will also accept sibling enrollment requests for 2013-2014. Sibling enrollment is only for prospective students who are siblings of currently enrolled Collegium students. Sibling enrollment materials will not be mailed home to families. The sibling enrollment materials will be posted on the Sibling Enrollment page of the Collegium website and available in Collegium’s main offices beginning November 1st.
Enrollment Requirements for Siblings
Exceptions to the requirements below will not be considered.
- All students must reside in Pennsylvania.
- Siblings of currently enrolled CCS students include: siblings by birth, stepsiblings, adopted, and foster siblings. Also included are wards subject to legal guardianship or other children related by blood or marriage living with the currently enrolled CCS student’s family in a regular parent-child relationship and who are dependent upon the current student’s parent(s) for support. A court order or a completed and notarized guardianship form is required to document guardianship status.
- Kindergarten students must be (5) years of age by August 31st of their kindergarten year.
- First grade students must be (6) years of age by August 31st of their 1st grade year and must have successfully completed an accredited kindergarten program.
- Siblings’ names must be listed on the current student’s re-enrollment form.
- Completed sibling enrollment materials must be returned to Collegium by November 15, 2012 at 12 noon.
In accordance with PA Charter School Law, siblings of currently enrolled students do get preferential enrollment status beyond non-sibling new enrollees; however, sibling enrollment is not guaranteed, as we must review the returned enrollment materials to ensure completion and then determine space availability.
Families will be notified of the sibling’s enrollment status after the re-enrollment period ends on November 15, 2012. Sibling enrollment/wait list notification will occur in December 2012. The sibling enrollment receipt that Collegium provides is your proof that you provided Collegium with the necessary materials on time. If there are problems/questions about your sibling enrollment, you will be required to provide the receipt. Without the receipt, Collegium will not review your claim. Exceptions to the deadline (Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 12 noon) will not be considered. Please do not wait until the last minute to complete the sibling enrollment process.
Whenever possible, Collegium will attempt to contact families to alert them of their inaccurate or incomplete enrollment material submission. This contact will be attempted only one (1) time using a family's preferred method of communication. Families provide their preferred method of communication on the Enrollment Submission Form within the enrollment materials. Additionally, Collegium does not guarantee this notification during the week of any enrollment deadline. A student will not be enrolled, placed on a waiting list, or included in a lottery while their materials are incomplete. Please do not wait until the last minute to complete the re-enrollment/sibling enrollment process. Exceptions to the deadline (Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 12 noon) will not be considered.
Important Dates* for Sibling Enrollment
Mid-October 2012 – Information about the upcoming re-enrollment and sibling enrollment periods will be included in the CCS Newsletter for currently enrolled families. A reminder will also be posted on the CCS website.
November 1, 2012 (Thursday) – The re-enrollment and sibling enrollment periods for the 2013-2014 school year begins. Re-enrollment Forms will be mailed to the home of each Collegium family using the mailing addresses we have on file. Families are reminded to keep all contact information (address, phone numbers, etc.) current with Collegium. We will be printing mailing labels on Thursday, October 25th. If your address is not current with Collegium by October 25th, Collegium is not responsible for mailing delays. The Re-Enrollment Form will also be available in Collegium’s main offices, posted on the Re-Enrollment page of the Collegium website, and also emailed to those families who receive regular email communication from Collegium. The Sibling Enrollment materials will NOT be mailed to families. The materials will be posted on the Sibling Enrollment page of the Collegium website and available in Collegium main offices. Once Collegium receives a fully completed Re-Enrollment Form, families will be provided with a signed copy of the form (your receipt) as confirmation of re-enrollment. A receipt will be provided for completed sibling enrollment materials, as well. However, the receipt for sibling enrollment will not confirm enrollment - simply that we’ve accepted the completed materials from you. Sibling enrollment/wait list notification will occur in December.
November 10, 2012 (Saturday) - Collegium’s 500 Building will be open from 10:00am until noon to accept hand-delivered Re-Enrollment Forms, completed sibling enrollment materials, and to issue receipts.
November 15, 2012 (Thursday) at 12 noon - The re-enrollment and sibling enrollment period ends. All Re-Enrollment Forms and sibling enrollment materials are due by 12 noon on the 15th. While the Re-Enrollment Form only takes 1 minute to complete, sibling enrollment requires more time and attention. We strongly encourage families to submit the sibling enrollment materials well in advance of the deadline to ensure that CCS staff has adequate time to contact you if the materials are incomplete. Please do not wait until the last minute to submit the re-enrollment form and sibling enrollment materials.
AFTER November 15, 2012, (Thursday) at 12 noon – Late and/or incomplete Re-Enrollment Forms and sibling enrollment materials will not be considered for priority re-enrollment and sibling enrollment. Instead, once the enrollment materials are complete, those students and siblings will have to participate in the general enrollment lottery held in late January 2013. Spaces for those students and siblings are not guaranteed. Your child(ren) may be wait listed for 2013-2014 even though currently enrolled for 2012-2013. Exceptions to enrollment deadlines will not be considered.
*Dates provided and the enrollment process are subject to change. Changes will be posted on the Collegium website. Please review the website for up-to-date information.
